    Impressive

Midnight finish and two tone black scales. Very slight blemish on the finish on one side, but I plan on working this knife so not a big deal to me.
Came sharp, hair shaving sharp (with effort). But could be sharper so I did so on my diamond plates and it sharpened very well.
I am very pleased with knife, will be keeping an eye on Dawson for other knives to add to my collection.
Only other thing worth mentioning is the kydex sheath does have a bit of rattle but that will be an easy fix.

    Awesome Knife

This is my second Dawson knife. I ordered this knife when it went on pre-order and got serial # 02. I've wanted a great Bowie knife for along time and finally own one. I'm very happy with the knife and completely satisfied with the trasnaction.

Pros: This is a good knife design. The blade is wide but not too wide. The spine dips a little then comes up to a point. Where the spine dips, there is a false edge which allows for better stabbing insertion. It's well made and fits in my hand well. The finger guard is long enough to keep my finger on the handle without being too long. Its got stippling on the spine for a thumb grip. The balance of the knife is pretty good. It doesn't feel blade heavy even with an 8" blade.
I like the pommel as it allows for hammering if necessary.
The sheath material is thicker than most other manufacturers Kydex sheaths.
The knife had a clean edge on it looking to be about 20 degree then a sharper angle of 25-30 degrees on the cutting edge.
The knife scales are well textured to help provide a good grip.
The handle scales are supposed to be interchangeable so I can get different colored ones if I want. I am interested in ordering iron wood scales if Dawson makes that available as an option.
The knife looks to be perfectly cut out and ground.

Cons: On the back of the sheath it looks like there is a finger indentation that is quite pronounced. This doesn't look like it belongs there. At least it's on the back of the sheath. **Update, John Roy emailed me and let me know the indentation is there to prevent the knife from rattling in the sheath.
The sheath is a bit higher on the knife than it really needs to be. This makes drawing the knife from sheath not as easy as many other manufacturers sheaths.
The knife was kind of sharp, but not sharp enough to shave hair. I was able to put a really sharp edge on the knife with my Wicked Edge sharpener though.

Overall I am very happy with this knife. I haven't ever spend this much on a knife before and am happy with the purchase overall. I did get good customer service from Kika and want to thank her for her help with the finish option and shipping update.
